The cover is relevant - if you think you’ll enjoy reading a horror book based on people melting into goo, then go on and read it :) This is generally seen as the worst of Junji Ito’s long form stories; I think that’s wrong. It’s definitely the weirdest, and it’s an exercise in developing the same idea in different directions, but it has a lot of scary and grotesque sequences that make it a tense, gripping read for Junji Ito fans.
