In 1970, teenagers Rudi and Sol gave up everything to travel the world on their sailboat. Now they have two children, Tao and Ximi, who have grown up in a world of adventure, freedom, and self-reliance. But this carefree, bohemian lifestyle has its drawbacks, and Ximi dreams of going to school. How can the family bring their boat to shore when life on terra firma seems to harbor insurmountable difficulties? This is the first part of a story based on Julie Ricossé's own experiences. Personal, poetic, and painted in beautiful watercolors, "A Life at Sea" bridges the gap between childhood and adulthood.
