Manfred is a student at a military academy in Germany in the beginning of the 20th century. One day he gets into a fight with another student and something strange happens; he's able to foresee what his opponent is going to do. This ability comes in handy later on for Manfred, as a fighter pilot during the First World War. This volume went by very quickly, the premise gets established and not that much more happens.
